Back breakouts

Hey ladies,
I suffer from a hormonal disorder and sometimes I deal with back breakouts (in additional to facial sometimes) and the dark marks they leave on my light skin.  My skin is very fair so the marks show.  My dress is strapless. Does anyone have any tried and true cleansers or tips? Has anyone done a back facial? Did anyone just cover some spots with makeup? What kind? Any info appreciated.

Re: Back breakouts

  • My daughter had success getting rid of her back acne using Oxy face wash on her back and following it up after her shower with the Oxy pads.
  • I've been using really expensive stuff from Sephora and nothing has really worked...i never thought to go a little more basic--i should try the pads! What is in it? BP?
  • Exfoliate too.  a LOT.

Definitely! I use loofahs and I'm thinking of putting toner with glycolic acid on my back as glycolic acid products work great on my face! Trial and error Sigh I thik I will try a back facial as well before the wedding.
  • Stay away from loofahs.  They harbor bacteria.

I had the most success with alternating St Ives scrub with salicylic acid and PanOxyl (a 10% BP bar), then treating with Noxema pads and tea tree oil.  I also saw a LOT of improvement when I started sleeping in a cami instead of a t-shirt, so my back could "breathe."

Also, if you can see a derm, oral antibiotics are usually fairly helpful in combating back acne.

  • I have the same issue and I just went to my dr this week and she prescribed a few things 1) Benzefoam (RX) - apply to back for a few minutes and then wash off in shower 2) use acne wash in shower like clean and clear body 2) Glytone back spray - spray on back and let dry. You can get this on amazon. 3) Epiduo cream for spot treatment. This is RX and very expensive but most likely your Dr will give you samples. I've had skin issues forever so I really hope this works it's time consuming and expensive but I've tried just about everything. Also, I found a natural recipe on pinterest using lemon juice and witch hazel. I have been using this for a couple weeks now on my face and just started in my back too and haven't had any new pimples and it made my skin so soft. • has anyone ever heard of using baking soda as a back exfoliant to help? I've been doing some research and came across that.  Was wondering if there was anything to it? All you do is mix it with water to make a paste and rub it gently across the affected area and leave on for a few min (unless it stings sooner if you're sensitive).
  • I've been to derms in the past and after awhile they just tell me its a hormonal disorder and just go o bc,which im already on ugh I am thinking I am going to shell out the $ for a back facial at the spa and see what they say as far as maintenance.
  • My derm prescribed clindamycin for my face and back/chest breakouts which has really helped. Have you tried that?
