Sephora skin products

Hi Everyone!
I am wanting to try some new skin products.  Sephora has a lot to choose from so I'd love to hear any suggestions.  I get small breakouts here and there and I have a hard time with the tone of my skin. Redness is a slight issue.

Also, what kind of primer/foundation do you all use?

Thanks :)

Re: Sephora skin products

  • I love Sephora! :)

One of my favorite brands is philosophy. They have a lot of wonderful skin care products. Purity Made Simple is a really great, gentle face wash. I also love Hope in a Jar moisturizer.

I use Bare Minerals foundation. It has definitely helped my breakout-prone skin but it may not give as much coverage as some other foundations.

I LOVE Philosophy Grace perfume :) It's what I wear everyday.
I'll have to try their skin products.

I tried using Bare Minerals and the coverage was not what I wanted.

    Thanks!!
  • just be careful with philosophy face wash.  I have super oily skin and sometimes their cleanser is too drying for me.  I usually wash with Purity every other day to avoid irritation.

  • Primer- Urban Decay
It's the only one that has held up to my very outdoorsy lifestyle.

Break Outs- Clinique actually makes a great break-out fixer/corrector. I buy that at Macys... And can't think of what it's called but when I see one coming on, when it's already showing face, or when I have picked at it and left a scar, this stuff gets rid of all of the above. True story. If you go to the counter, they SHOULD give you a sample to try out yourself. LOVE!

    Anti-age/wrinkle:
Hope in a Jar (This is by Philosophy at Sephora)
Oil of Olay (I actually like this stuff the most, and just buy it at Target)

    Foundation:
I'm a little useless here.. I wear concealer but not foundation... Foundation feels so heavy and clogs me up.
That being said, if you have that same issue, go with a water based foundation instead of an oil based. It will feel MUCH lighter on your skin. I used to have one from MAC ( not a brand sold at Sephora. Can be found at Macy's or Nordys) and it was great. Never made me break out and didn't weigh me down.

    Blush:
Orgasm (by Nars) is the most amazing blush I have found. I have an Olive complexion that soaks up any color I put on my face. I'm also a big face-toucher. This stuff holds up so well!

I know I added a couple extras to my list... haha.. sorry :o
  • Thank you for your suggestions, I'm making a list of what to buy!
  • I have two different foundations and primers that I like.  When I'm going to work, I use Tarte Recreate primer and Urban Decay Surreal Skin Mineral Powder foundation (similiar to Bare Minerals).  It give light coverage, which is fine for me.  It evens out the skin tone while still looking natural.  I also use Make Up For Ever HD finishing powder.

When I'm going out or know I'm going to be photographed, I use Make Up For Ever HD primer, foundation, and finishing powder.

I like Purity Made Simple cleanser. Most of the skin care products that I use are from the drugstore, so I can't help too much.  I do have to say be careful with Clinique.  I had a really strong reaction to the 3 step system.  After it happened, I found out it's not that uncommon for people to react to it.
