Matte Eyeshadow

Any suggestions on good matte eyeshadow, I am not a fan of all the shimer.

Re: Matte Eyeshadow

  • Urban Decay is my favorite.

MAC has great matte eyeshadows. I find Urban Decay to have more fall-out than I like. What colors are you looking at? What color are your eyes?

  • My eyes are green and I have fair skin. I would love to find a pallette with an assortment of colors but if not I would like some nice neutral colors and maybe a grey and a lilac.
  • Go check out a Sephora if you have one near you and they can play with you to find the right shadows.

As for PP...I spent $300 on MAC once and it is so disappointing. Even my make up artist has it for the day of and I am taking her my UD palettes. I never have fall out. Primer is key. MAC I feel like I have to nearly scrape it onto a brush to get any out of the pan. The pigmentation is lacking.

  • I dont have this but have heard good things:

Too Faced Matte eyeshadow collection ($36) at Sephora.

It has 9 different  colors, and all matte, plus cards with how to recreate looks.

This would probably be cheaper than getting 9 individual shadows from any brand.  But if these aren't the colors you're interested in, I'd say go to Sephora and Mac and take a look at some that you like.  Pigmentation, fallout, blendability, and how they look on your skin vary more from color to color, not necessarily brand to brand.
Mac probably has a better color range if you're looking for something non-neutral.

If you're interested in SOME shimmer mixed with mattes, look into the Urban Decay Naked palettes (there's a 1 and 2), because those create very wearable looks.  There's plenty of variety in there even if you don't use the super chunky glittery ones.  Or Too Faced makes several different kits like the one in the link, that have matte and shimmer depending on the look you're going for!  Good luck!
