Short hair thoughts...

I have straight short hair - a little longer in the front, shorter in the back (just long enough to pull my hair into a stubby ponytail). My head piece is a headband with a birdcage style veil. But the headband is more to hold the veil in place rather than hold my hair back. I also want to be able to remove the head piece during the reception. Any thoughts on hair styles? I'm pretty limited with the length of my hair. Should I pull all my hair back and use a 'faux' bun to cover the stub of a pony tail? FYI - outdoor wedding in November and I don't want my hair blowing in the wind. Any ideas?

  • I would just leave it down.  It sounds like it'd be cute with the headband and bird cage veil.
  • Curl it going back rather than going front and brush it out. Maybe pin a small bang piece back so you can see your lovely eyes! Keeping it soft will allow you to take out the headband without risking the super-glued hairstyle

  • Leave it down & either go straight or have some curls put into it. By not using your headband to hold it back it will still look great once you take it out and by not doing a faux bun, you are still being you and the way everyone knows and loves.

  • Thanks everyone!Cool

  • I'm late to the party, but sounds like my hair is a tad shorter than yours, so what I did might work. A friend used a spiral curling iron to curl the front and the top layers of the back, and then I had a headband that didn't hold my hair back, but just provided some bling, and a veil on a big comb that I took out during the reception (I actually left it in a lot longer than I expected). The curls relaxed over time, but it still held really well considering it was 95 and humid!! My friend used Aussie's spray gel on the roots (or I did -- I dried it myself), and then used Aussie's sprunch spray to hold the curls and allow them to be soft. My FI had never seen me with my hair curled, and he was blown away! : )

In the photo with the veil,  It's been about 4 hours since my hair was done, and all but about 1 of those hours I was outside in the heat (but little wind -- I'm with you on the not wanting my hair to blow around and get stuck in my lipstick!). In the one with only the headband, it's probably been a good 12 hours, and still only 1 of those was indoors -- our reception was at a baseball game! I'd initially thought that I would tack the sides back above my ears, but it made me look too much like I look when I go to work. So I left it down and curly, but of course started tucking it behind my ears as the night wore on!
