Can you go to the make-up counter.....?

Does anyone know if it is possible just to go to a make-up counter in a department store to get your makeup done?  For example, could I go the the Clinique or Lancome counter in Macy's and get my makeup done?  I'm really clueless when it comes to this stuff.

It is different for each counter.  Here at home, for proms a long time ago, Estee Lauder would do your makeup if you had an appointment, but you had to buy two products (so it wasn't free).  Clinique was no appointments and you had to buy so much product.

Just be wary, the lighting in department stores is bad...and in my experience, my makeup was always too dark and too much.  You might go for a trial first, then if you are happy, be sure the same person will be there to do it again the exact same way.

Where I live, it's done all the time.  Alot of girls here like to go to the MAC counter at Sephora if there is one in your area.  They do require that you buy $50 worth of product however.

Around here people do that all the time. I question how well they clean their brushes and such... BUT that's not the point... LOL.... as far as I know there is no charge, but they make commission so it's nice to buy something from them.

I'm getting my makeup down at the Clinque counter in Macy's. They set me up with an actual appointment, so they know I'm coming and what colors I want and so on. For this place, I don't have to buy anything. I will probably buy the lipstick and gloss they use, though, because I will likely need to reapply that before the wedding actually starts, and maybe once during the reception.

Definately check with your local department stores, I checked with my local dillards, the estee lauder counter said they do it for free but request you purchase one item and you'll need the lipstick for touchups!
