Waxing underarms

Any advice?  thinking of doing this so it doesnt look so dark.

Re: Waxing underarms

  • I JUST did this last week. It was SO not that painful. Two rips per pit.
I was really shocked at how much less it hurt than I thought it would. I think getting your eyebrows threaded hurt much more.

There are a few stray hairs that I had to pluck a day or so later but it's been a week today and no dark stubble (I'm real pale with dark hair) and no razor burn.

I'll never shave again, I'm hooked!!
  • I'm an esthetician and I wax underarms on the daily...Along with everything else...I recommend using an exfoliant with an active enzyme in it to prevent the pain, bumps, and ingrowns that can occur...Also, an ingrown hair serum will help. The underarm area is considered a public part and needs just as much care as your other areas.

  • I'm an esthetician as well who waxes underarms on a daily basis. I, myself, haven't shaved in years. The transition from shaving to waxing can be a bit difficult, especially in the summer, but it has tons of benefits. Underarms are not in the least bit painful to have waxed. They stay clear of hair for about two weeks on average and you're ready for another waxing within 4, sometimes longer for less-hairy clients. The benefit is the more committed you are to waxing, the less hair grows back. Be sure to exfoliate on a regular basis to enable healthy regrowth and inhibit ingrown hairs. Also, post-wax, do not use deodorant until the following day. Some ingredients can  burn or irritate sensitized skin.

  • Thank you all for getting back to me.  Question on the prep - I asume I go in with no deodorant on?  How long does it need to be (more than stuble obviously)?  If I start now I should be good and on a reagular pattern for the wedding in Jan.  Sweet.
  • I just got my underarms waxed a few weeks ago for the first time.  Unlike these other ladies, it hurt more than I thought it would (and I get regular bikini waxes).  I thought it hurt more than the bikini wax I got that day!  But I would still do it again because it was much smoother than I can get it from shaving.  I have coarse hair under my arms and have to shave with the hair growth so I can't get that close.  I loved the waxing, and a week later I still don't have much stubble at all.
  • Like cabondineall, I'm wondering how long should the hair be? Also, I'm getting married on 10-10-10. Am I starting too late?
