Skincare/Make-up products

I'm just curious what people are using and having good results with. I'm getting nervous as my wedding approaches and I'm looking for good lotions and make-up. I'm battling dry skin right now, and this summer I'll be working in the sun on a boat 12 hours a day right before my wedding (ugh, I'll be a mess!)

What brands of make-up cause the least shine, blemishes, clogged pores (in your perosnal opinion)? What creams or scrubs do you use?

  • You might want to check out the DIY makeup and List Your Faves stickies up at the top for some good suggestions.

I use MK products (and had my makeup professionally done) so I'm not a ton of help.  :)
  • I work on a boat too, your best defense is a high SPF sunscreen. If you're like me (tan), spf 15 does the job, but an spf 30-50 will keep you from getting super dark, and is also more protection. Try neutrogena for your face instead of your standard body sunscreen (spf 70ish). This might help with the oh-so-fun sunscreen-clogged pores.

I love Clinique. It is designed for senstive skin and therefore their makeup is supposed to prevent breakouts. They also have the 3 step skin care line: soap, astringent, lotion that is designed to stop zits and keep you moisturized. I've always had the best luck with them.

  • Oh- and wear hats!!! They'll help. I find my face is more oily when I'm in the sun alot, b/c it is overcompensating for the sun drying it out. This might help. :)

  • Hi,
I'm a professional make up artist in the Phoenix area - these are my suggestions that I live by, as I am prone to dry skin (and the AZ weather doesn't help that!)

-drink LOTS of water [8 glasses a day, min ~64 oz]
-moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! when you wake up in the morning before you apply your makeup, use a face moisturizer with a minimum of 15 spf. and after you wash your fash at night moisturize. When my skin feels really dry, I will apply 1 layer of moisturizer, let it sink it and sit for a few minutes then apply a second layer.
-don't leave the house without sunblock! it's one of the best things you can do for your skin, but make sure to get one specifically for faces as it won't be as oily. Nuetrogena has a great one
-apply a face primer before your foundation (and after moisturizer)
    -get a "dewy" foundation/moisturizing foundation.
    -set with a loose powder

Hope that helps! Best of luck!
