Airbrush make up and bad skin?

My skin is clear in terms of no active break outs but I have some acne scarring from my younger years as well as pretty rough skin, kind of pock marked. It's very similar to Edward James Olmos' skin, but not that extreme. I talked to my make up guy and he says he's worked with all types of skin and said that I should be fine, but he did warn me airbrush might make my skin appear worse. I see a dermo once a month and I've had dermabrasion, but the problem is never fully resolved.

So long story short, I'm wondering if any of you have any success stories with bad skin and airbrush make up?

My (then 15) year old daughter was in my wedding and at the time had pretty bad acne.  When my MUA saw her, she actually said she NEEDED to airbrush her and was afraid regular foundation wouldn't provide enough coverage.  My daughter's skin looked flawless after the airbrushing.  So, although I don't have any other experience with this, this is the opposite of my experience.
Here is my daughter at the wedding:
