My DIY makeup experience

Hey ladies! I am back from my honeymoon and figured I would share some of the products that I really liked:

Maybelline gel liner is a gift from the gods! I scored this on sale for around $7 I think and it does not budge. I wore the plum on my wedding day, it is easy to work with and has ultra staying power. I wore it on our honeymoon and it even stayed put while swimming and surfing in the ocean.

Bare Minerals - alright so it took me a little while to find a foundation that did not make me itchy and this was it! (I thought at first I was having a reaction to it but then I figured out it was the cleanser I tried in the store.) I have heard a lot of negative things about mineral makeup and photography and have to say that at least in the case of this brand it must have been a myth. The foundation made me look so natural in our pics and did not cast any kind of weird halo or anything. Love it!

ELF eye primer - another cheap but glorious find... I was about to drop $18 on the urban decay primer and saw this in target for $3 and decided to try it a few weeks before the wedding. It works perfectly - I like to put it on and let it set for about 30 seconds (it is really wet at first) then when it is a little drier I would pat it down with my fingers. This definitely made my eye shadow stay put all day long!

Avon lipstain and glaze - I loved the avon lipstain (pretty much a marker for your lips) and the clear glaze has spf 15 in it (my new everyday gloss!) and I love that it is not sticky at all but ads the right amount of shine to seal in your color

Re: My DIY makeup experience

  • Did you use the matte Bare Minerals? I use it every day and love it, but I'm not photographed every day, so when people always complain about mineral makeup, I cringed, thinking I'd need to find something else.
  • I did my own too... I got some free smaples from Sephora.... some HD Base stuff- forget what its called. I got the Sephora brand eye liner- $5, Two-Faced eye shadow $35, free sample of sunkised lipstick.

I was super nervous at first, but I ended up doing all of my makeup as well as the bridesmaids
    BabyFetus Ticker
  • I actually used the original bare minerals - I did use the mineral veil with it that is mainly cornstarch - so I don't know if that has any effect on the photo outcome or not. All I know was I got the coverage I needed and it looked so natural all day long :)
