Fake lashes, yay or nay?

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on fake eye lashes for my wedding day. If so, any particular brand that anyone really likes. Would love to hear all of your opinions: good or bad. Thanks!

Re: Fake lashes, yay or nay?

  • For me, yay.  I love dramatic eye makeup, so I'm all over the fake lashes.

That being said, I prefer using individual lashes or half strips, because (on me) the full strips look SUPER fake and I'm not a fan of that look.  I like the shu uemura lashes from Sephora, but I've heard good things about MAC fake lashes as well.
  • I'm doing them...I bought MAC eyelashes...there were so many different styles so I just went with what the consultant said was the most popular for bridal looks..
  • LOVE the fakes.  Wear them all the time.  I always get the MAC ones when I buy for myself, but my MUA actually gets the cheapies from Walmart/Target.  It's the glue she uses that makes them work plus MAC mascara.

  • they are a definite must have for me, I'm going to do them just on the outer corners to make my eyes look larger
  • I say yay! Sephora has a ton of excellent fake lashes. So does MAC.
  • I'd like to use them but 2 things: #1, I don't want to look fake. #2, I've had a few friends try them & they never stay on. That's the last thing I need! haha

  • I'm doing them just for the corners of my eyes.  I don't know the brand, whatever my MUA used on the trial, but they looked natural and stayed on all day long.
  • you're supposed to look like yourself on your wedding day...so nay for me

  • Nay for me too. If you aren't used to them -- it could end up being a disaster. If you really want them, I would say go for the individual lashes that you can fill in around different parts of your eye
  • I had never worn them, but my makeup artist put some on for my trial and I loved it! She focused on the outer corners to the middle with a few (maybe 5-6) individual lashes for each eye and it worked for my eye shape. I actually went out and bought my own from Sephora and use them for special occasions (aka any excuse I have to wear them!). I am a yay! I wonder if you can stop by a makeup counter and ask for a free trial?

  • For more of a natural look I recomend Laura Mercier (Sephora carries) makes your eyes look wow, but not in a "broadway show" kind of way.

    Good luck!
  • I love the way that false lashes can open the eyes!  There is such an amazing variety of styles available from strip lashes, to half strip, to individuals.   If this is a look that you like, there is sure to be an option that will suit you!  On the other hand, I often recommend to brides to first try wearing lashes before their wedding day or event if they have never worn them before.  Some people just don't like the way that they feel.  I think that there are tons of great lashes available, but my favorites always use natural human hair for a more comfortable fit and look.  Shu Uemura, MAC, Red Cherry, Ardell, and Frends Beauty Supply all carry amazing natural hair lashes.

  • I'm a lash lover so definite yay for me. If you aren't used to them try a couple trial runs before and wear for a full day. Also in terms of them not staying on you have to use the right glue. Duo is what every (good) makeup artist uses. It's a surgical adhesive and will last for hours. If you're going to be married in an high humidity area make sure to get the waterproof version or they will lift. I personally like full strips for the lashes but each person's eyes are different. HTH!
