Bald Bride

I'm not getting married for a while but I have a big concern.
I'm bald (I have male-pattern-baldness due to hormone imbalance so I shave it all off to save the embarassment) and was wondering what other bald-brides did in terms of embelishments/ veils/ etc. Also, is there a dress-style that goes well with baldness?
I ask because I cannot find ANY pictures of bald women getting married. It's just so frustrating to see all these bridal hairdo pictures and know I'll never have that!

Re: Bald Bride

  • Could you do a cute hat? those frilly little top hats in all the stores right now are cure, or a vintage cocktail hat with a little net veil?
IDK about dresses, you could do whatever you want, I cant think of any dress that would look terrible for lack of hair :)

I don't have that problem, so I can't speak from experience.  What about doing an old Hollywood glam style with a vintage hat with a birdcage veil.  It depends on your personality and style and if that is something you would like.  Also, maybe look at dress pictures with the hair totally slicked back.  I agree with PP that I don't think you will be limited as to style of dress.  Maybe go try some on.  That's really the only way to get a sense of how things will look on you.  Good luck!
  • The first thing that popped in my head was this picture, but IDK if that sort of headband would be your style:

There are some fabulous hats out there, as the others have mentioned.  For a more traditional look, I think a mantilla-style veil would look lovely, just might be tricky to hold in place.

I agree that you're not limited to any particular dress styles just because you don't have hair on your head, but if this is a big area of concern for you, you might consider flipping the usual order and choosing what you want to wear on your head to feel beautiful and bridal, and then find a dress that complements (for example, a headband like I posted above would work better with a narrow dress than a poofy one, I think).
  • Oooh I really like some of the silk headband ideas :D Thanks yall!
And yeah, while it may not seem like lack of hair would change how a dress looks to some degree it does. :\ You have to work extra-hard to look more feminine.
BTW Amoro - GREAT dress pics I really love all the pattern *3*
  • I'm not sure if you thought about this for an option, but how about trying a wig? They have come a long way and are really light and airy now. You could also wear a veil because you could just slide the comb into the holes in the wig.  I work with a lot of ladies who have lost their hair or thinned due to different things.. We use Raquel Welch.

    I hope this helps.
I don't mind growing old, as long as I'm growing old with you. (:
