Texas discovery gardens

Has anyone gotten married at the Texas discovery gardens? I'm looking for reviews. I love the idea of the butterfly house but it scares me that nothing comes with it.

Re: Texas discovery gardens

  • A Knottie, shananigans, got married there in 2009 when I was planning.  Her wedding was beautiful and she was really happy with how it turned out.  That is the only one I can remember though.
  • I have been to one where the wedding was on the lawn. It was absolutely beautiful. The reception room itself is quite large. Being able to have a run of the entire gardens was really nice.
  • We were going to get married at TDG but decide to do vegas instead. I love everything about it. we were going to do the grand allee and reception in the  grand hall.

  • My sister recently got married there on April 21st.  It was BEAUTIFUL and everything turned out so well.
I do have to say that there is a bit more planning to it because you're just renting the space.  I think the only thing that came with the venue was the table and garden chairs.  The huge windows overlooking the garden was gorgeous, and at nighttime, it's even more beautiful looking in from outside when you have pretty wall lights.

I am linking her review of the place.  It's the first review written on there.

I am also attaching her highlight video from her videographer so you can get some visuals too.

I think if you're up for planning every detail, then you definitely can't go wrong with it.

That was one of my choices but it was just too hard to get into contact with someone when trying to plan details. But I visited and had planned on wedding being in front of fountain which is extremely beautiful. The only downfall was that if it rained and you paid for an outside area, that is just money lost which is why I changed my mind. I wanted an outdoor wedding and if it rained at the last minute, I wouldnt have been able to due to wet grass etc. They have vendors that you have to use for food but if you dont, then they charge 250 for you to use someone you want but they have to be licensed. Although they do have all inclusive packages....I believe you see them on the sugarcitysweets website. All in all, a beautiful place. Like the previouspost said, you only get the ballroom.....you have to rent EVERYTHING else. She did say however, if you rent the fountain area for the ceremony, they will let you use the garden chairs in the ballroom for free since they come with the ceremony area.

  • I have a lot of experience with TDG and I wouldn't in a million years do business with them. Message me if you want more details.
