Is this too hot for my hair?

There is a groupon goods deal right now for a curling wand.  http://www.groupon.com/ch/goods/deals/gg-reverse-2513-mm-wand-curling-iron
I was thinking of buying it to try and see if I like the curl for my wedding hair (it is returnable).  My only concern is that it only has one heat setting...410 degrees.  I've read high heat can help hold a curl longer but I dont want to fry my hair either.  Besides practicing for the wedding I doubt I'd be curling my hair all that often (maybe once a month).

My hair is straight naturally and not thick but not thin.  Will a protective heat product be enough or should I look into something else?  TIA

Re: Is this too hot for my hair?

  • That's pretty high for straight/average hair.  I'd be hesitant to mess with it this close to your wedding.  If you were getting married a year or more out I'd say give it a try with the heat protectant but... I'm voting too hot.

One thought for you, since you said you'd be using this just for the wedding - it's $44. You could probably get a pro for ~$100.  Could you save an extra $56 in the next 6 months instead?  The risk/reward is in favor of saving $56, imo :D
