When to get acrylic nails done? :/

Hello all!
I'm having acrylic nails put on for my wedding, which is about two weeks away. I'm trying to figure out if it would be a bad idea to get them done today. I've heard most people get them done the day before or so, but my favorite nail place (which my mother bought me a gift card for) is about 50 miles away from my house and were not near it too much. I'm over on that side of town today because I'm visiting with my family, and was wondering if I could get away with getting my nails done now. As well as it being convenient with me being here today, I also would like to be able to get used to the nails, havent had any put on in forever and it always takes me a little bit to break them in :P I have never had a problem with them chipping or breaking off, only thing I worry about is them needing a fill before the wedding, what do y'all think? Thank you!

  • 2 weeks away is too long.  I get mine done every 2 weeks.  I did mine the Wednesday before my wedding.  Your nails will look old and in need of a fill in 2 weeks.
  • They are very, very unlikely to break (they're very hard) but, yes, you will need a refill in about two weeks (your nails will grow out a bit at the cuticle).  Can you wait one more week?

  • no more than 3 days in advance, otherwise growth is noticeable. I did mine 2 days in advance.

  • I have had acrylic nails for 24 years.  Yeah, probably as long as you are old.  Anyway, my wedding is in 3 weeks and I had a new set put on last week and will have a fill the week prior to the wedding.  I don't like the look of a new set.  So, I feel that my nails will look more natural and fresh doing it this way.  Hope this helps.

I feel you on the wanting to get it done, but as PP have said...it will not look fresh at all.  I'm getting married almost 2 hrs away from my normal nail place so I'm going to wait until the last possible second to get my current set taken off and a new one put on to make my nails look nicer.  Try to wait as long as you can before the wedding...you'll appreciate it later!

  • No, they will be really grown out and in need of a fill in 2 weeks.

  • I had mine done a few days before my wedding. Early enough to have nice nails for bachelorette party and rehearsal dinner and wedding, but not so early that my nails needed to be re-done.  Usually people that have acrylics have them touched up every 2 weeks.  I would wait till closer to your wedding- no earlier than a week.
