Waxing

So I've never waxed before, but I want to have a bikini, my legs, eyebrows, and under arms done for the wedding/HM in Sept. There's a waxing place near me that I've heard great things about and they'll do one free waxing your first time (one of those would be bikini so I'll try that). I can't afford to do the regular waxing beforehand. I just want to not have to shave on the HM.

Would it be okay if I tried waxing once now (in the next 2 weeks) and if I don't have a reacation, then do everything close to the wedding? I'm being led to believe that if I don't do it regularly (cycles of hair growth or something) then it'll pretty much be pointless.

Re: Waxing

  • You must be talking about European Wax Center? I go there too. The pricing is pretty great. If you get waxed now & then wait 90 days, it’ll be completely grown back obviously. So there’s no harm in trying it out now & then waiting to do it later. Regarding the cycles of hair, the way my friend who works there explained it to me is, although that is true, it seems to be more so for your legs. So if you shave from now to them & then stop so you have hair the length of a grain of rice, it’ll all come out when you wax it. It is likely that most of your hair will be grown out together. Your underarms, bikini & eyebrows should be fine. The legs do seem to grow at varying rates & you may have regrowth quicker. But since it’s less hair growing back so fast, it’s not as bad. I’ve found this to be true for me too, which is why I gave up on leg waxing. I just do Brazilian & underarms now.

It won't be pointless at all. You'll still get a smooth feel for a good number of days (I'd guarantee at least a week before hair starts to grow back). If you wax regularly, over time less hair will grow back because it's being pulled out by its roots. But not waxing regularly won't have a bad effect on a wax before your wedding. Although, I recommend not shaving at the very least for 4-6 weeks before your appointment to ensure all hair has grown in. I've been impatient before and waxed too early, trust me it is a waste of your money!
  • Thanks ladies! I was kind of worried because everyone's saying how I should get into a rountine before then, but I can't afford it that often. I just wanted a nice "no shave" time for the wedding and HM. I can't afford it afterwards either. So I'll definitely let it grow out as much as possible and then take it from there. =) Thanks again!
  • Have you though of buying a waxing kit online? I bought one (used it regularly last year) and really liked it.  The more you do it, the less hair grows back.  It also hurts less when you do it more often.
