Shower and Wedding gifts

Hi Ladies,

Just out of curiosity, do people usually give gifts at the shower and then a separate gift on the day of the wedding?

Thanks

Re: Shower and Wedding gifts

  • Well then that's good news..:)
So do people usually pick from the registry again for the wedding or do people normally give money?

I don't think I put enough items on my registry though..
  • Where I'm from, it's registry gift for shower, cash for wedding. But that varies by family and location.

    Yes.

It depends - some people will never ever give cash and prefer to buy a physical gift off the registry (or somewhere else).  But lots of people will do money for the registry.

Just be sure to check your registry after your shower(s) is/are over to see if you need to add more items.

That being said, if your registry is running low on items, people will likely give you cash at your wedding instead.

Yeah I think I am just going to let the registry run out. My FI and I actually prefer to get money but of course I had to register for my shower
  • I was wondering about the gift situation the other day. I went on Bed Bath and Beyond's website the other day and typed in the names of everyone I know who recently got married (which turns out was a lot)! It was completely different for every person. Some registries the people got almost everything they registered for, and some got hardly anything. In the cases of those who didn't get many of their gifts, I asked and they said they got mostly cash. So, I went through and deleted stuff off the registry that wasn't that important to me so that I would hopefully get just the stuff we really wanted/needed. That being said, there are still plenty of things on there in every price range to make sure people don't feel like they don't have options.
