Father/Daughter dance alternative?

My Dad doesn't dance! That's all there is too it. I'd really like to have a special father/daughter moment at the reception because my groom-to-be will be having a mother/son dance. Any suggestions that don't involve busin' a move?

Re: Father/Daughter dance alternative?

  • Has your dad said he categorically won't dance with you.  Or are you deciding that he won't.  Have you asked him?  He might just want to.

He doesn't have to "bust a move".  A slow dance with your dad doesn't take a lot of practice or coordination, for that matter.

I am hoping to hear some answers here too... my dad LOVES to dance, but unfortunately is not doing very well right now, mobility-wise, and may not be able to walk, let alone dance, at my wedding. I don't want him to feel that he has "let me down". I dont' even like to dance much, so I don't care, I just want a special moment with him.

If I could sing, I'd probably sing him a song instead (can you sing, Varlandberry?), but I reallllly can't sing!
  • I'm considering doing more of an upbeat father-daughter dance to 'Crocodile Rock' (it's our song...don't ask...). Your dad might be more open to something less formal and mushy, and just let loose and have fun!
