This is probably going to sound dumb but if my fsil brings a date, does the date sit in the fron row with the grooms family?

I would say yes. He is her date, after all.

If she's a BM, he'll probably find a seat with someone he knows or who ever he comes with. If she's not, he'll sit where ever she sits.
