Wedding Shower

I am not a fan of traditonal wedding showers, where everyone sits and watches you open gifts. Does anyone have any ideas for a fun\creative shower?

Re: Wedding Shower

  • Technically, the point of a shower IS to shower you with gifts, so that needs to be part of it. You can always have a small shower so the gift opening doesn't take long, or decline when someone offers to host a shower.

  • The point of a shower is to shower the bride with gifts.  If you don't want that, fine.  Just decline any offer of a shower.

If someone offers a shower, you can ask if they'd like to host a bridal tea or luncheon instead.  People who don't want showers do these a lot.  It's like a shower, but without the gifts.
  • I'm not having a traditional shower...my MoH and the other bridesmaid kept wanting to do something, and MoH(my sister) has insisted I have to do something with my nails...so we're doing that the morning before, and then having a "girls' lunch" at a Japanese steakhouse afterward...since we all enjoy that, and it's something FI doesn't particularly enjoy doing(he says it's too loud/distracting).
