Brides Walking Themselves Down the Aisle

Helloooo!!

So for the entire 10 1/2 months of planning my wedding, my dad was going to be the one walking me down the aisle. Just recently we have had a falling out where he says he won't come to the wedding now. Instead of having someone else walk me down the aisle, what if I just walk myself? I know that is becomming more and more acceptable so I was wondering what your thoughts are on the subject. Do you omit the part of "who gives this woman?"
