Groomsmen/Ushers

Are you supposed to have separate ushers and groomsmen or can your groomsmen be the ushers too?  My finance has 6 groomsmen.  I was thinking of having them trade off the usher task in 15 minutes intervals each. I wouldn't want this to mess up any behind-the-scenes pre-wedding pics though. I do have two cousins and an uncle that would usher if I needed them too. Any thoughts?

This might not be an option for you, but I'm not even having ushers at my wedding. I've been to so many weddings where an usher seats me then I move to sit next to people I know and like I am having a rather large wedding, but I figured people could figure out where to sit.

We are having 3 Groomsmen & 3 Ushers. The Ushers will do all the seating before & escorting the rows after. The Groomsmen will be in the Bridal Party taking care of those matters. But, the 15 minute thing could work - so everyone gets a chance to be "backstage" & everyone gets a chance to help Usher. It's whatever works best for you.
