So it's about that time I start to firm up the guest list. I honestly don't have many friends that I'm inviting, because I don't know where to stop. So here's my issue. I was planning on inviting my one really good friend of 4 years. She has two kids (11 and 12) with whom I'm really close and a brand new boyfriend (whom I'm not so close with). For budget purposes, I'm not doing kids at all at the wedding and I'm being careful about who I give plus ones to. We were talking about the wedding and she said "Well me and the kids are so excited! Put us down for 4!" I said, "Well, honestly, I don't know how many I can have. I have every intention of inviting you, but I don't think I can afford to have your kids come. I'll have to look at the numbers, but I wasn't planning on having kids." She says, "Oh no, you can't tell them no. They've been talking about it for months! See, they've never been to a wedding and they really want to come." I told her I wasn't planning on having any kids that weren't out of town family, so they would most likely be the only ones. She tells me that her kids are used to being the only kids at events and they make the best of it. It gets worse. She then offers to PAY THEIR WAY because she doesn't want to devastate them. She's out of control! I almost just want to not invite her all together to avoid her trying to sneak them in, but she's one of my closest friends. WHAT DO I DO?!
