10th wedding anniversy vow renewal

When my husband and I originally vot married our wedding was less than perfect. We have decided to renew or views on or 10th anniversary that is a little over a year away. My problem is, I don't want to have another wedding. I want my renewal to be its own spectacular event. I have Bergen researching what is appropriate and what isn't, trying to figure out if we should do something big and grand or small Luke or wedding was. I don't even know if I should hire an event planner. I do know I want the evening to be spectacular and perfect. Any suggestions or ideas? We want to renew our vows on the beach at sunset.

  • Have you checked out this site?    http://www.idotaketwo.com/

They have a whole section dedicated to vow renewals that may be better inspiration than TK.

There's also a board for Second Weddings under Special Topic Wedding Boards (to the left) and I've seen a decent amount of discussion about VRs there.

Have fun and congratulations - 10 years is a big deal :)
  • ceh789 -- the "Second Weddings" board is for brides who are marrying for a second (or third, or whatever) time due to being divorceed or widowed.  It's not a board for planning vow renewals or wedding re-dos.

71 cudagirl -- what you have in mind sounds really cool!   I think you have the leeway to plan more or less whatever suits your style and your budget.   I would stay away from making it TOO much like a "wedding re-do" and instead use it recognize the 10 years you have already spent together:-)    You don't need to hire an event coordinator if you don't want to -- many people plan large parties, weddings, and vow renewals on their own, and most vendors can coordinate themselves.  But if you can afford it, then there's no reason NOT to hire an event planner.   But yeah, I think your sounds awesome.

  • I think your plans sound great and you should plan whatever you want.  I agree not to make it too wedingy, but you can still have a great time without making it a wedding do-over.  Ditto about hiring an event planner.  If you can afford it, it may be good for your sanity!
