We are having a semi-beach theme wedding. Not over the top beachy but a few hints of beachy-ness.
I cannot think of a unique guest book idea that goes with the theme, but is also something thats practical and won't be shoved in a closet some day.
The ideas I've come up with based on lots of time searching around the internet are:
Traditional-ish:
Photo guest book (made on shutterfly)
Frame with large matte for guests to sign
scrapbook with mini envelopes and paper for people to leave us a note
Beachy:
Beach or seashell themed coffee table book, people can sign inside
Wooden surfboard with our names & wedding date, lots of room to sign
Mini Lobster trap
Ship wheel
Get a bunch of assorted seashells and have people sign them and place then in a vase.
