Father-Daughter Dance

My father and I have a close relationship, but, being from the south and having a bizzare sense of humor, I don't really want us to have a mushy father-daughter dance song. My dad is also painfully shy at times, and I was hoping to break the moment with a funny song for us to dance to. I was thinking "A Whiter Shade of Pale" By Protocol Harlem, since he'll probably be super nervous and changing a few shades of pale anyways. Is this song too weird or does it sound like it would be funny?
Thanks!

Re: Father-Daughter Dance

  • I guess if it will mean something to the two of you, go ahead.  Your guests won't necessarily "get it" although they don't have to.

Why don't you ask your dad if he'd like to choose the song you dance to?  My son did that for me at his wedding, and I loved being given that option.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I like the idea of having your father choose the song.

I know that  couple here locally recently got married and the bride didn't want to be crying left and right and her dad wasn't much for slow dancing so they actually dance to the Auburn fight song for the father/daughter dance - complete with matching Auburn jerseys. I thought it was a cute idea. Especially since the groom was an Alabama fan.
  • Haha! Love that fight song idea, kitten!
  • "A Whiter Shade of Pale" is by Procol Harum, and it's never struck me as a funny song.  Have you actually heard it, or do you just like the title?
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
