Father Daughter Dance

I have been agonizing over what song to use for my father daughter dance. I just hate all of the super duper sappy "I love you so much daddy" songs, but I also dont want to do something really upbeat because my dad isn't the greatest dancer. So, I was wondering what ya'll think about this idea. I am from South Carolina, but have moved to Maryland for FI and will probably always live here. My parents will always live in SC, so what do ya'll think about using "carolina on my mind" as my father daughter dance?  Is that too impersonal? I think it indirectly has a I'm always thinking about you feel to it. What'ya think?

  • I'm not familiar with the song, but really whatever you like is fine.

Have you considered asking your dad what song HE might like to dance to? My friend's dad is a big Tempations fan, so she automatically thought "My Girl". At Thanksgiving, she mentioned that she thought they'd dance to that. Her father surprised her by saying he'd been thinking about it and would like to dance to "Tupelo Honey".  She was really touched that he'd put a lot of thought into it. So ask your dad, he might have a song in mind!

  • When I was MOG, my son asked me to choose the song we danced to.  I was so happy to be given that, and chose a song that many might not, but it was meaningful to us.  Ask your dad.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I had no choice in picking the song lol My dad told me that he got to pick and I had no say. I trust him so it didn't freak my out. He schose Heartlands' 'I loved Her First'.

  • I agree with the group on this one. Ask your dad what he might want to dance to.
My father and I are not very close, and do not always see eye to eye on things, but thought it would be a nice gesture for me to ask him if he wanted to do the dance and what song he might like.

    Good Luck!
