Catholic Ceremony Music - Help!

I'm trying to finalize music for our ceremony in May - and am having trouble with music for our soloist. We originally selected Ave Maria and The Prayer, but The Prayer was declined by our church - weird, but I'm over it. My next idea was The Prayer of St. Francis/Make Me a Channel of Your Peace, but I'm not sure if it is too solemn/slow. Any other ideas of church music that is beautiful and upbeat?

Check out the catholic board on the Culture boards. There have been several posts about music/readings etc for the ceremony. Also, there's a PIN including a website to help too!! Good luck!

You might make more progress if you work directly with the Church's music director.

Yor music director will give you the music allowed. Most churches are different

Our soloist performed Gifts of Love during the prelude, but it is also acceptable to play during the presentations of the gifts.  As for the communion song, he performed Panis Angelicus.
