Is it really that uncommon for women to plan their own bachelorette party? Very early on in our engagment, my maid of honor asked me what I had in mind for mine and we had discussed Dave & Buster's. I don't drink and I'm not a big party girl, but I love D&B, so I thought that would be fun for those who wanted to drink and for me as well. Well, about a month ago I get a text message from her telling me to take off of work the week before the wedding and to "trust the bridesmaids." And I find out that the plan is not for D&B at all, but a complete surprise. They planned my whole bridal shower without me (which is fine and I was okay with it), but my MOH blew it and told me the date because for some crazy reason she thought I was supposed to know. So, the more I thought about it, the more I was a little annoyed that I didn't get to plan EITHER of these parties. I know, traditionally (I'm beginning to hate that word), the bride doesn't have anything to do with either one, but I want to be included. So, I sent an e-mail out to all of my girls telling them that I'd like to plan, or at least, be included in the plans for the bachelorette party. And my MOH basically went postal saying how offended she was that I didn't trust her to plan the party. I find out from another bridesmaid that part of the plan was to take me to see the MOH's brother's band play. Which would be fine if they didn't play exclusively in clubs and he wasn't my EX-BOYFRIEND!!! What was she thinking??? It is NEVER okay to see an ex during a bachelor/bachelorette party. Anyway...the discussion got heated with MOH and she basically told me to find someone else to be the MOH because I'm "hard to please." All I wanted was to plan ONE party 100% for ME! I didn't really think that was a lot to ask. I want something simple and small and something that doesn't include any of my ex-boyfriends. Am I being unreasonable?? Don't a lot of brids plan their Bachelorette party????
