speech

I am the best man at my brothers wedding. It is a small destination wedding with only about 15 people going. Is it still expected that i give a speech before dinner?

Re: speech

  • I don't think that the size/location of the wedding has any bearing on that. Have you asked what the groom wants? We had a local wedding with 80 guests and no speeches. So it really varies. Just ask them if that's something they'd like.
  • In all likelihood, yes.  But I would talk to the groom and see what he expects.  If the speaking makes you uncomfortable then perhaps you can skip it or do a short toast to the couple to congratulate them.

With only 15 people it might be more casual with people standing up as they want to toast/do a speech.
