Inter-Faith Wedding Options??

Hey Knotties,

My BF and I are discussing getting married often lately, and we're coming to a standstill on who will officiate our wedding considering our different religious backgrounds.

I'm sure people have talked about this a million times, but I wanted to see what other people think in this specific situation.

BF is from an Catholic Italian family, but is not very religious as far as being a churchgoer. However, he does have very strong beliefs in the religious teachings he experienced in childhood.

My parents had differing views on religion and allowed my sis and I to make our own choices in religion. I still feel that this was ideal for me, and even without religious involvement, I still learned appropriate values and I have developed my own set of beliefs. (We are discussing what faith our children would have, and I am confident we will work it out.)

As far as our wedding, I have always wanted to get married on the beach. His only requirement for any part of the wedding is that the officiant be from his faith.

My question is, is that possible? Will a Catholic priest marry a non-Catholic and a Catholic, and outside of a church?

I don't want to convert and I'm not sure if there are other options. I really appreciate any insight you guys can share!
