rehearsal dinner invitations?

So, I notice on a few boards some brides are posting mockups of their rehearsal dinner invitiations.  I just assumed that, since my FILs are hosting the rehearsal dinner, they would take care of the invites.  Am I wrong?  Should I be worrying about these things?

I used to think that some brides just particular about having all there paper things matchy matchy and that's why they're designing them.  But now I'm starting to think I have it all wrong!

I would guess that those brides are hosting their rehearsal dinner themselves, or their inlaws might be paying but not really involved in planning it.  Not everybody has ILs who are hosting the RD for them.  If yours are in charge of planning it themselves, you should leave the invitations up to them as well and not get involved unless they need help.

*face palm* Of course that makes sense.

host = invite person.  Simple as that.

  • My in-laws hosted ours so I just asked my MIL what she preferred.  Did she want me to  handle the invitations or did she want to do it herself?  She said she would do it herself, and she did.

I've been in other wedding parties where the bride handled them, and others were there was no paper invitation, just e-mail information about where to be and when.

Yeah, I actually just assumed people would either be told by word of mouth, or they'd get an email or something.  Invitations can be really cute though.

  • I would ask your in-laws what they would like to do. Just so you know what the plan is and are not surprised by anything.  I think we'll be hosting the RD so I will send out invites.

  • I'm going to ask (or have FI ask) FMIL how she wants to handle them. I don't mind ordering them myself at all and handling RSVPs, but I don't want to step on her toes. She's offered to host/pay for the RD, but is very hands-off. She told us to go with whatever venue we wanted, for example.
