When are you removing your veil?

This is probably a stupid question, but I really am wondering when most people remove their veil. Right after the ceremony? Before the reception? Do you keep it on during your pics after the ceremony? Do you keep it on during your first dance and father daughter dance & then remove it? We are taking most of our pictures before the ceremony so IDK if I should even bother keeping my veil on during the "family pics" after the ceremony. What did everyone else do? Thanks!

Re: When are you removing your veil?

  • I'm planning on taking mine off after the pictures after the ceremony, before we go into the reception. Unless it's really windy (our ceremony is outside), then I'll probably take it off before pics.

Whenever you want! Do you love your veil? then keep it on for pictures, are you wearing one because you feel like it goes with the dress and the church, then I wouldnt bother wearing it for pictures. I am wearing my mom's veil and will be taking it off probably right after the ceremony, I dont really like things on my head because they feel awkward, but I wanted to wear it because its a way to use something of my moms in the wedding.

I am wearing a birdcage veil, and I think I will be leaving it on the entire day.

  • I was going to slip mine off after the ceremony (before B&G pics) but everything happened so fast, I just ended up keeping it on all night.
  • After pics, before reception. I love my veil, and would wear it longer if I could, but I know that the minute people start hugging me, it will get tugged on and ruin my hair.

  • I planned on taking it off after the dances but  I was just having such a great time I didn't notice. I wore it the entire night.  Honestly I think the veil is what most made me feel like a bride.

I practically ripped mine off after the ceremony! Most pics were done before, but the ones of just alone that we did after don't have the veil in them... oh well. Neither do the family pics after the ceremony. It was fine, but it was a really hot day and my hair was only half-up, and it was just bothering me.

<div>This.  I wasn't even intending to wear one at all, imagine my surprise when I realized we were leaving the reception and I still had the thing on!</div>
  • I think I'm going to have to take it off after the pictures- it's cathedral length and I can't imagine trying to get around the reception with that attached! I've recently heard of bustling the veil and may look into that but I've planned for it to be off for the reception at this point.

  • I am having a cathedral length veil so that sucker is coming off right after pics after the ceremony. I guess it depends on length and how comfortable you are with it on.
  • I had a 2-tier fingertip with embellishments that I thought I'd remove before the reception.  As it turned out, I loved it and left it on.  It made me feel very bride-y :)

It depends on the person. i'm leaving my on until pictures are done but thinking about removing it before the recieving line starts.

  • I took mine off after pictures/before reception, though it was very humid and my hair didn't hold up very well, so I probably should have kept it on the entire time now that I look at the pictures.
