Hi all,
I booked a wedding date for a Saturday in October. When I called the church this week to touch base, they discovered that they had double-booked another couple for our same day/time! We had to switch out wedding day.
I had originally wanted a wedding day that was close to the same day my grandparents were married. So, when this happened, I chose a date that turned out to be Thursday. In order to change my wedding date to a different Saturday, I would have had to go later into the fall, and I didn't want to risk snow on our wedding day!
My stepmother is really, really concerned that people won't attend because they don't want to take off any work, or take kids out of school. She is also worried that people will try to go to work the next day, and so will leave early. I want my reception to be a late night party!
Most of our guests on my fiance's side are traveling from Alaska, so they will be in town that day anyway, and taking off time from work etc. My family members are largely local, but I don't think they try to work the next day! I have spoken with several people who have kids etc to see what general opinions are. No one seems to think it is a crazy idea. What you you all think? I'm not concerned with "sticking to tradition." However, I do want people to come and have a good time!
