Signing a platter instead of a guestbook

We are having a green wedding (no extra envelopes, limited cut flowers, etc) so I didn;t want to have a guestbook but I still wanted a keepsake with people's names and messages.  Sooooo I found a website online of a ceramics studio in RI that does guestbook platters.  There are a lot online but I ended up e-mailing them a picture of the flowers in my bouquet and they are doing a modern monogram in the center.  I am so excited!  Guests sign it with a pen and you bake the platter in the oven and then use it or display it after.  Such a cool idea!  If there are any other "green" girls out there I would highly recommend it.  The place is Weirdgirl Creations in Barrington RI.  They ship too so you don't have to go there.  I did everything online and over the phone.

  • I am doing kinda the same thing, but instead of a platter, we are doing a vase!  I hate guestbooks and feel like we will make much more use out of a vase.

  • For other brides that want to do the same thing, there's a place called Color Me Mine that also does the platters for you, and would probably be able to any type of ceramic piece for you.  I thought about doing one of those, but decided to go another direction.

  • I think the platter and I have even seen huge blank picture frame looking things are a great idea. It switches it up from the traditional, same old, same old.
