Return/Exchange Duplicate Gift before Wedding?

FI and I received a duplicate gift.  Our wedding is still nearly 2 months away.  What's the proper etiquette on returning or exchanging it before the wedding?  I know we shouldn't use gifts until after the wedding, so does that also mean that we should wait until we're married to do any returns or exchanges?

You can do it now, it's not like your friend Joe or your Aunt Mary will know whose slow cooker your returned.

As long as you have the gift receipt or packing slip, I don't see a problem with doing it now. You will probably get store credit in which you can purchase something else off of our registry either now or later on.

I say do it now.  The store where the gift came from may have a strict gift return policy and you may only have so much time to return it.

Contact the store where it came from.  If you can return it after the wedding, I'd wait.  But if there's a time limit on returns, then go ahead and return it.

Do it now.  If anything you're likely to run into problems returning it in a few months, and, like PPs said, whoever gave you the gift won't know that you had dupes.
