Honoring Our Anniversary

By the time my FI and I get married, we'll have been together 9 years. We've been dead set on being married on our anniversary since he proposed, but the more we think about it, the more we realize it can't happen. All of our family will be travelling from out of town and the year we plan to get married, it happens to fall on a weekday.

So, we want to find a way to honor our anniversary. Is there some custom or tradition that we can do privately or a document we can sign on that date to honor our union on our anniversary?

As a bit of backround, we are non-religious. There's still some time to the wedding and I obviously have little idea of what happens legally and traditionally. :)
