My brother and soon to be sister in law are getting married in July. I am 16 days older than my brother (I am adopted) and therefore my sister in law wants me to dance in the hog trough. I tried to convince them that since I am also engaged that its really not necessary for me to dance in the trough. That didn't work... I am perhaps the clumsiest person ever and i dread dancing in front of everyone! Did anyone else have to dance in the trough? How bad was it?

The idea is to humiliate the older sibling? Sounds like a lovely wedding tradition!

I agree that it sounds odd, but maybe a different choice of words? I work with special needs kids and have 2 precious cousins with special needs. Any use of the r-word makes my blood boil and breaks my heart. I can not just ignore it. You can visit www.r-word.org to pledge to eliminate the use of the word.

And that is probably one of the stupidest traditions I've heard of.
There is NO shame in refusing to do this!!!
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.
Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
I am the older sibling, but if my sister tried to make me do that, I would boycott the wedding.
