Hi ! I'm just looking for some opinions.
My parents are divorced, and my dad hasn't been overly active in my life until the last couple years since my daughter was born. Even since then, it's still not the best relationship. My mom has since remarried, and my step dad is great, but we aren't the closest. With all of this, I've decided that I would prefer for neither to give me away, and have chosen to ask my older brother to do the honor.
Now is where it gets complicated. The "father/daughter" dance ... Since I'm asking my brother to give me away, shouldn't he be the person I dance with during this song? The way I see it, is that if I danced with my dad or step dad, then they should be the one to walk me down the aisle. When I mentioned this to my mom, she immediately shot down the idea of dancing with my brother. And now I'm confused.
