Bubbles, rice, rose petals, or fireworks

When are the bubbles, rice, etc., supposed to be done? Is it after the ceremony or after the reception?? I'm clueless when it comes to this!!

  • You don't have to do them at all, it's not a requirement or anything.

Usually it's done after the ceremony when the bride and groom are exiting the church.  People that do sparklers do them at the end of the reception so it will be dark out.

Yes, usually it is done after the ceremony when the bride and groom exit the venue.

I am doing sparklers and it will be when we enter our reception, simply because there is no grand exit.  Our ceremony is at 7p and our reception will begin around 8:15 - 8:30 or so.  So, it depends on what you want and what your timing is.
  • thank you! I really had no clue

Check the rules about such things at your venue. Some places won't allow bubbles because they leave sticky residue, and rice/confetti because it just makes a mess.
  • Also rice can kill birds- it expands in their stomach.  One wedding I went to had everyone throw birdseed
