Out of curiosity...

Just curious if this is proper or improper etiquette.

My future step-sister-in-law just sent her wedding invitation to me only. I am not sure if she is sending Justin's separate or including him with his parent's invite (we are both living with our parents atm until we move to CA). I was thinking we should be invited together since we're engaged, but at the same time, we live at different addresses. Which is proper? I'm just curious, it kind of irked me, so I wanted to know what is technically proper... Thanks.

He's supposed to receive his own if she's going all emily post. But I don't know....that would be really weird to not invite someone's fiance.

IMO, you are a social unit and therefore should be invited together regardless of your living situation.  See if he gets his own.  Did they send a SASE for replies?  You can screw them up if they did and put down "2" on each of yours.  She may get the point then if you act like you just assumed he was invited on yours.

For our engaged friends who weren't living together, we sent the invite to the person we were closest to but included both their names on the envelope.

I thought strictest etiquette said you didn't put two people on the same invitation that didn't live together, but that most people do it anyway with couples.  

If they put him on his parents' that's not right.  But if they send him his own, I'm pretty sure that's correct.

I think MNIN is right.  We did one per couple and sent it to whichever person was our friend, since we would not have invited the significant others in the non-married couples if they split up because we aren't close to them.
