Me too. I used to live in Fort Greene, which I also love, but now all of my friends and favorite bars are in walking distance. Maybe we'll go back to Ft Greene when we can afford one of those brownstones. ....haha.
  • We used to live in the UES. It was ok, but the rent was SO high for such a small place. Here, we live in a new building, we have a lawn, etc. And I live within 5 minutes from the subway. I love the restaurants here too.

Me too! There are always new bars and restaurants popping up. And McKarren is my favorite place to be in the summer time. Especially with to-go margaritas on the corner. We don't live in a new building, but we have the whole floor of a house with a front yard. 2 Blocks from the subway. I love it. My only issue is that our kitchen is dispropotionately small. I work on the UES, so I hate the commute, too.
  • What's your fave restaurant in the area? I havent tried every place yet....I have some faves though. And I just fixed up my bike today so I should be using it this weekend!

I'm currently obsessed with Coyoacan. Such good Mexican. For brunch I love Julliette's, and dinner I really love Sea, Wombat, or Mother's if I just want a burger. What about you?
  • Oh you make BK sound nice! I have only been there a few times since moving to NYC 4 years ago! We went to hear some bands at the Music Hall (?) in Williamsburg, and it seemed very cool.
  • I live SUPER close to the music hall.

I love Juliette, although I prefer Egg for breakfast. Their hashbrowns are amazing! I like fada for its french onion soup and El Almacon for argentinian food. I tried sea. I thought it was ok. I really wanna try surf bar.

Brooklyn is amazing, Megan! You should really investigate so many hidden gems to discover.

I have to admit: I like Juliette over Egg for its cocktails. Surf Bar is so much fun! I hear The Lovin Cup is okay, but I miss Anytime - did you know that they have a comedy show every Wednesday night for free? I like Sea for its atmosphere and duck salad appetizer. Also, if I could afford to eat at Dressler everyday, I would. I can't lie, I am also a huge fan Hotel Delmano for drinks.

Have you tried Rye? I have been dying to!
  • Hotel Delmano is really close to me too. We love that place because it has absinthe with the sugar cubes. We also like brooklyn bowl for for their fried chicken and their live music. Pies and Thighs has good chicken too.

The Lovin' Cup is ok....I think my fave thing there is actually the corn bread that come with the veggie chowder. I really like Sweetwater, but DH never wants to go there anymore.

DH loves Miranda. I love Aurora. Have you tried either of those?

I haven't tried Egg or Dressler.

I haven't tried either of those. I will add them to my list!

As far as The Lovin Cup's cornbread, I'm allergic to gluten so I can't eat it.I love Sweetwater! I think we stopped going there because it wasn't in walking distance. haha! We live on the other side of Union Pool. I also can't lie, I really like Fette Sau for the BBQ and The Beer Garden for the Schnitzel. I am dying to go to Rye because it's supposedly a Speakeasy and has been compared to PDT which is so hard to get reservations for - I'm a huge fan of cockatil bars.

Also, my friend is getting married at the Williamsburg Music Hall. I never thought of it as a wedding venue but I'm sure she will make it look amazing.
  • OMG we LOVE Fette Sau! We often wait in the line because it's always worth it. So since you live over there, you must go to Barcade! OMG, we love that place. I have been to Union Pool for a concert. It is a big place.

I also love Peter Lugers but we rarely go. It's a special place.

Which beer garden? Radegast? We go there frequently. We love the sausage bar in the back.

Fette Sau is soo worth it 100%.

LOVE barcade, it's so much fun!! Union Pool is insanely big, but the taco truck that is in the back during the summer is so good (I think now it stations itself by The Woods). Yes! Radegast, such good sausage haha.
  • We haven't gone to Berry Park which is the other Beer Garden in the area. It's facing McCarren Park.

We just tried a place in Green point called Papasitos for Mexican food and it was not good. We are both Californians and we miss Mexican food so much!

Hahaha! Papasitos! I LOVE that place, not because the Mexican was good, but because they have cheap pitchers of margs and a taco happy hour at like 3am. So embarrassing, but I love 3am tacos. Coyoacan is like gourmet mexican, it is not West Coast Mexican (my MOH is currently living in LA, so she has showed me what's up) but, it's really delicious. The tacos and avacado salsa, I love it. And they have fried platanos in a caramel sauce for dessert and top shelf tequila margaritas (I'm ashamed that most of my restaurant reviews are influenced on the cocktail quality...but...c'est la vie).

  • Cocktails are important.
