July 2012 Weddings

Uhhhgggg.... FMIL update

Do you guys remember my FMIL gripe thread from a while ago??  If not, here you go... lol

Well I got an answer on #2  Myrtle Beach honeymoon timeshare gift is a big fat no!  I'm kinda pissed at myself for not just looking into HM options earlier and planning on us doing our own thing anyway... I also wish FMIL would have told us sooner.... she and FFIL are actually there right now on a vaca for FMILs Birthday (which is on Monday)... GRRRR... I'm not bitter or anything!  LOL

Guess I'd better start last minute honeymoon planning!  FI and I have 2 possible options... we've both always wanted to go to Vegas and we've also talked about a Disney World trip.  Only thing is Vegas would be REALLY freaking hot in the middle of July and Disney would probably be pretty crowded at that time of year anyway.  We could wait a little while longer and just go on our honeymoon a month or 2 after the wedding (which might be good because it will give us longer to plan and maybe have a little more flexibility on budget!)

Uhhggg... who knows!

  • That really sucks! FI and I are actually doing Disney World for our HM, but we are waiting until December because the parks are dead during that time (like between Thanksgiving and about a week before Christmas).  We are also waiting because we want to save the get away for when it is going to be cold here.  If you need any tips on Disney, let me know.

</div><div>Hahahaa... this exactly!  If we were to go mid July, it would be a real test to the start of our marriage!  LOL  I can be quite miserable when it's super hot!

On another note... I haven't changed my siggy since January... lol maybe I should get rid of that!

  • I'm all for delaying a HM! Mostly because we are only doing a mini moon until later on lol Seriously, if you still have a little time to relax after wedding craziness (ie, not going back to work a day or two later), I'd totally do it! It just kind of extends all of the wedding fun, IMO. You can still tell everyone you're on your HM!

And ITA with going somewhere warm when it is cold at home! Plus, sounds like you could use the extra time, and trips are cheaper in the off season :)

I agree with what everyone else said.  I think waiting and going to either Vegas or Disney in the fall when it wont be so hot and there wont be 8 million tourist visiting is a great idea!  You could still do something small right after the wedding like stay a couple nights at a bed and breakfast.  We are staying the night of the wedding at a hotel by our reception venue and then staying 2 nights at a Bed & Breakfast a few hours away.  I am really looking forward to it. We will go on a longer trip later in the summer with our girls (its hard to leave them for more than a couple days...I hate doing it).

ETA:  Sorry that you FMIL was such a pain about this whole thing.  I would be really annoyed if I was you.  That kind of think stresses me out!

  • Actually, Disney isn't really that bad in July...It's just really hot & humid, sticky...But you could spend a few days at disney & drive over to either coast and spend a few days, hit the beach up!

Let me know if you decide disney & want beach side tips!
  • My husband and I have vacationed in Vegas the last 4 years in a row.  I also cannot take the heat.  So, this is what we do.  We get up around 10 and go out and get a nice big breakfast.  It's still early so you won't really feel the heat.  We then go back to the hotel and hit the pool.  Get yourself an umbrella so you aren't baking and the casinos refresh the pools so they aren't like bath water.  We spend a few hours by the pool, go back to the room for a nap or whatever (it is your honeymoon) and then get dressed for a nice dinner.  By the time you are ready to eat, you'll find it will be somewhat cooler. And all the casinos are very well air conditioned.  We like Vegas because you don't have to worry about hurricanes or even rain.  There are so many things to do at night, shows, piano bars, comedy clubs, some of the best restaurants in the world, etc.  Just walking around and exploring the casinos is a night in itself.  They are awesome.  So, as long as you avoid the mid afternoon hours which can hit 100 in July, you'll find Vegas to be definitely tolerable in the summer and a lot of fun.  Whatever you decide, hope you have a blast!!
  • If your going to Vegas go in september october, weather is very nice and the summer rush is gone!

Disneyworld I advise DONT GO IN THE SUMMER!!! Wait until October. When FI went there was NOBODY there and we walked right up to rides.
