how mant bridemaids is to many?

okay, so we both have big families and i have 6 bridemaids, i did have 8 and cut it back, but everyone says its a bad idea to have a big wedding, is 6 to many?  i am really close to them all, but i don't know if that is to big .... i also have 3 flowers girl, so i don't know, please help!

First, I think any number is okay. I am having 9.. my bestie, 2 SILs, and 6 close friends who I want standing with me on that day. I knew who they were going to be for a long time now. I am getting married in May, and they already know. To me, that day is not ALL about my FI and I. It is also about the people we love and the people who have shaped who we are as individuals and as a couple. NOT TO GET ALL MUSHY! But this is how my FI and I both see it. It is a day to celebrate with the people we love.. not about "what is accepted" or "what the rule is".. the truth is.. less girls would be more manageable and less expensive.. but it wouldn't be right. I want them up there, so I asked them to be up there. And I can't wait!Kinks will come up in this process! Just keep your heart set on what you really want for that day, and the rest will fall into place (with careful planning of course!) GL
