A long distant bridesmaid...

So one of my bridesmaid lives in Vicktorville, CA which is like 6 or so hours from me ....so how would i get her to get fitted for her dress? Would another store fitt her for the dress??

Re: A long distant bridesmaid...

  • If you go from a chain no problem, I had some long distance brides and they just went to their tailor and were measured Just make sure that you have the bridal store call them and walk them through the measurements - especially the hollow to hem Shouldn't be a big deal

  • Send the dress to her.  She can contact a local tailor.I'm a long distance BM for a wedding that's a 9 hour drive.  The bridal shop sent me my dress via UPS and I went to a local tailor who is taking care of the alterations. She can call a local dress shop for recommendations.
  • 3 of my 4 BM are OOT and I am out of the country. The dresses will be sent to each girl and she will alter at a local tailor.
  • If you order a dress from a national designer, give her the dress info and have her go to a local store and order it on her own.  She can get measured for the right size, order it locally, pick it up, and handle her own alterations.  If the designer isn't available where she lives, you can have her go to a local shop and get measured, and send her measurements to your shop.
  • all of my BM's were OOT.  I've been an OOT BM 5 times.  It's never been an issue.  Just send her the dress and she can take care of it in her hometown.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Ship it to her and she can get it altered locally. Or, if you haven't ordered yet, she could order from a local salon (or a wholesaler like Netbride or RK Bridal or Pearl's Place), and get it shipped directly to her in the first place.

  • All my BMs were OOT. I shipped them their gowns and they got them altered on their own.

  • All my BMs are OOT, (and all over the country).  We picked a dress and they all went to salons near them to order... all they need is the designer, style number and color.  They got measured when they ordered and then they can get fitted etc wherever is convenient to them
