Wedding Party

Best Man is a Woman

My fiance's best friend happens to be a woman. We've asked her to be the "best man" and I have NO idea how to word it on the ceremony programs. Best Man.....Rebecca ****** looks pretty ridiculous. I was just curious if anyone else has any suggestions on how to word this. I've been thinking that maybe "Groom Attendant" or "Groom's Attendant" would work, but I don't know for sure. Naturally, they (my fiance and Rebecca) think it would be hilarious to leave it as "Best Man." I'm fine with that if there is no other good options...but I figured there had to be someone else out there who has tackled this situation. As always, thank you ladies in advance for your input!!! Have a good evening!!!! =)

  • Best Woman, Best Person, Honor Attendant, Groom's Attendant, GroomswomanMy vote goes to Honor Attendant.

  • Yeah, I considered Best Woman, but it kinda sounds like an academy award. Honor Attendant sounds nice! Thank you for the suggestion!
  • P.S. MBCDEFG...that cat picture is awesome!
  • Thanks! He gets some serious air time when he's jumping after a toy :)

  • I think Honor Attendant is perfect.
  • I also vote for Honor Attendant.  You can call both your MOH and Rebecca Honor Attendants.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I would not use best woman... me in my mind that makes her sound above you. I would go with honor attendant.
  • Best woman Honor attendant
  • whatever. i was listed as best man in my brother's wedding, and everyone kept coming up to me at the reception to tell me how 'cool' it is that a chick is the best man. i guess it doesnt look that weird.
  • I was technically the MOH is my best friend's same sex wedding. Coincidentally, her wife used a male as her 'MOH' as well. They each only had 1 person in their "bridal party" (myself & this gentleman) but wanted to stay away from using the 'Maid of Honor' and 'Best Man' lingo... I guess more because it would make one of them look like a 'groom' and the other 'bride' which was not the case. Anyway, long story short, they too referred to us as 'Attendants of Honor'.
