Wedding Party

Groom's wear

Hi there lovely ladies, Just wondering what your groom's will be wearing - a tux or a suit or...? I have a long ways to go but just curious since my fiancee is not into tuxes and my family is giving me a hard time about this (yes, already... and I've barely thought about my dress!).TIA

Re: Groom's wear

  • Probably a tux. Throwing around the idea of a black suit, but I think he wants a tux more. How formal is your wedding? And keep in mind that the formality of your dress and his attire should be about the same.

  • It depends on the time of day and level of formality of the event.  We did tuxes but then again we had a formal evening wedding.  If you have a midday garden wedding tuxes wouldn't be appropriate.Focus on getting the big parts of the event itself planned first (location; level of formality; time of day; your dress) and what the GM wear will mostly take care of itself.

A word of warning from your friends at Cracked.com: Remember that text is going to be how you make your first impression over the internet; if every third word you type is misspelled, people will automatically assume that you're a moron.
  • BTW, I had an 11:30 a.m. wedding and afternoon reception, no clergy, no house of worship, and we did FORMAL. You do it as formal as YOU want. Ignore time of day, it's silly.
  • I know this much so far, church ceremony and reception at a banquet hall from 5pm onwards. I want BM in black, tea length dresses I want formal but nothing too crazy.I think the main concern is that my grandfather who will be walking me down the aisle, went and purchased a tux this weekend for the wedding thinking everyone, the groom and party would be wearing a tux (it was a really good deal and they jumped on it...). He totally jumped the gun at my grandmother's insistence.  The wedding is not Until September 2010 and really far away and I could care less if some people wear tuxes and my fiancee wears a suit, but apparently it's a huge deal and I need to let my grandfather know the dress code now so he can exchange his suit. I think everyone is a little too excited!  lol
  • My groom actually insisted on wearing an ivory tux.  This shocked me a bit, because he typically wears shorts almost year-round and is always in dark colors- preferably black.  The GMs are wearing black tuxes.  If your groom really doesn't want to wear a tux, just see if he'd be okay with a nice suit.  To me, there's not that much of a difference between a tux and a suit just by looking at them.
  • A tux.  My FI is extremely metro about dressing up.

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image

  • DH wore a tux. He's the cute guy next to me in my siggy. :-)
  • Banana, he IS cute!  :)Btw, how do you get your siggy to display a picture??
  • Thanks!  :-)You'll want to upload a photo to a photo website that allows photo sharing - like Photobucket.Save the photo as 'small' if you're using Photobucket's format.  Big siggies are not friendly to the other Knotties and their browsers.Right click on the photo to get the URL properties.  It will display a website.C&P the entire link in Tinyurl.com to make the long link much smaller. Then enter your sig by clicking the smiley face at the top of the screen and under 'signature' enter the web information in the following format:<img src="*http://tinyurl.com/yoursignatureinformation*">But don't use the * in your signature.
  • You're welcome!  Cute picture.  :-)
