David's Bridal.. How long to get BM dress?

I'm wondering how long it took to get your bridesmaid dresses when you order from David's Bridal.... they said 12 weeks top but I've heard several say it took longer... but I am running out of time. How long did it take you to get yours?

Re: David's Bridal.. How long to get BM dress?

  • I ordered 3 BM dresses from David's Bridal on August 2nd. On August 11th I got a phone call that 2 of them had come in. I'm still waiting on the 3rd, but from what I've been able to gather, my experience w/ the other 2 dresses is pretty much unheard of no matter who you go through.

  • When I ordered a BM dress for a friend's wedding it took about 8-10 weeks, even though they said it would be 12.

  • Hmm, mine came in much quicker. They were all in 3-4 weeks from their order date. It sometimes depends on what you are looking for. When you order a size, they should be able to give you an exact date that it will be in if it is sitting in their wearhouse. Also, they can do a search of other David's Bridals who have that size on the floor and buy it from them and have it shipped to you. We did this with one of the flower girl dresses. It took just over a week to come in.

  • I know this is not what you asked, but I hate David's Bridal so much...  I know that David's has more dresses than probably anyone else, and they have locations all over the country (that's a big pro).  But...I have been to several throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania over the years and every single time I was annoyed and disappointed.  I have been a BM twice and each time I bought a dress there I had horrible service.  The dresses seem so far from actual sizing.  When I started looking for a wedding dress, I called up David's to make an appointment and they asked me about my size.  I told her I was either a 2 or a 0 and then she said, "Well, a lot of brides think that they are smaller, but they're not actually that small...you're probably a 6 or 8.  Then I explained to her that I have a 23" waist and a 30" bust and usually have to have my size 0 dress pants altered to fit me... she still tried to convince me that I wasn't small.  I was so frustrated that I didn't make an appointment.  I went to a real bridal store and got a beautiful dress, that happens to be a size 2 that still needs to be massively altered to fit me (ha! David's Bridal).  My BMs got their dresses at Ann Taylor and they don't need any alterations, so it saved them money.I really hope that you have a better experience than me at David's Bridal.  Good luck!  P.s.  12 weeks should be fine.
  • Ours all came super fast.  Two came within two weeks.  The other two came in at about 4 and 6 weeks.
  • When I was a BM a couple of years ago, my dress took almost 4 months to come in.

  • My BM's dresses came in about 3 weeks after order date.  And there are 6 of them!  You really never know with them.  They can be pretty shady.  They totally scared me into thinking the color i liked was going to be discontinued.  So i had the girls rush over there to try on and order their dresses.  i think the color is still available...But yeah, basically, if they have the dress that is ordered in a warehouse, it's much faster.  i also had 3 come in and then the other 3 a few days later.  i was a little concerned because of the whole "dye lot" thing.  But they said it doesn't matter they are all the same.  So we shall see...
  • pinkelephants- I'm so sorry you had bad experiences! As far as the dye lot- all of my girls (6) bought their dresses at different times and from different stores. They all looked the same, so I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Amy and others-- I'm sorry...What is "dye lot"? I was thinking about having the BMs get their dresses at David's because it just seems so much more convenient.  Yikes...
  • A dye lot is the same fabric dyed at the same time. Two cornflower blue dresses from different dye lots might be slightly different in color. I personally have never thought it's anything worth worrying about, but then again I wasn't a details person with my wedding--if the shades of the BM dresses were slightly off, it wasn't going to be the end of the world. But others care about that sort of thing. I think DB is good for BMs because it's convenient and cheap but I would never, ever recommend getting a wedding dress there (I too had a horrible experience) but as a BM I never had any problems.

  • Ha! Maybe all the DB out east are bad! :P All the ones in Colorado that I and my bm went to were great and the one in Washington was great as well. I guess you never know.

  • One of my BM's got her dress in about a week or so. They originally told her 6-8 weeks. It was pretty quick. My other 2 BM's haven't gotten theirs yet so I don't know. One of my bridesmaids was in another wedding and just bought it off the rack.... she had to had to have it altered... but she still got it right away. I actually got my wedding dress there... and believe it or not it almost fits me perfectly. I shouldn't need many alterations. I have heard the the sales people tell you to get a larger size so they can alter it and make more money off of you. This didn't happen to me (although the alterations lady thought I needed a different size- I refused) My sales lady was great though.
  • This summer mine arrived in about 3-4 weeks.  It fit fine (I'm a 6/8, ordered an 8).  The service was awful, just like it always is...  the dresses were ordered from all over the country and the color was identical.  However the dyed to "match" shoes were not even close... but the "good" news is that all of us had identical shoe colors.  I hate David's Bridal.
