    Ask her what she prefers. It absolutely does not matter. Nobody will care what she's called.

    She said she prefers Maid of honor, and I do too.. I agree it sounds a bit dowdy. Thanks for the input!

    I say go with Maid of Honor or Honor Attendant or Witness....or whatever they are comfortale with. Matron is like being called "maam" instead of "miss." My maid of honor is 6 years younger than me and maried with 2 children. My other BM also has 2 children. My close single female friends have no interest in being BM which is fine with me. I can respect that. So I went with my other 2 best married friends.
