Wedding Party

Flower girl dress help!

I'm having a very hard time trying to decide on what color dress to have for my flower girl. My colors for the wedding are a deep sage green, ivory and champagne. I recently added purple as another accent color bc we are getting married in the Spring and I thought that would bring out the green nicely. The BM's are wearing tea length, chiffon dresses in sage green and each of them got to choose a style they liked so it will be a little different. As for the flower girl, I was going to have her in sage green also but now I really want to choose something to show off more of the purple. Will it look silly to have her in an all purple dress or better in an ivory dress with a purple sash or some sort of purple accent?? I could REALLY use some advice!! Thanks!

  • I think you're overthinking it by a lot. An ivory dress w/ a purple sash is probably the best way to go--dresses like that are widely available and inexpensive and a purple sash is easy to add.

  • Either option is fine. Talk to her mom and let her try stuff on. Browse in some department stores and kids' clothing boutiques to see if you can find a party dress in either of these colors. I agree with PP that it might be easiest to find a white party dress or Communion dress, then add a ribbon or satin sash in your desired color. You could also give her a small bouquet, a flower pomander or a floral head wreath to bring in other colors. her basket could be colored, or maybe you could even find cute colorful shoes for her.

  • I think either purple or ivory with purple would look just fine. I'd say ivory with a colored sash is a bit more traditional, but you don't have to stick to tradition. Agree with PPs, just talk to her parents (about budget, but I've also seen some Knotties saying their flower girls will get a light colored dress filthy, so they're going for a darker color).
  • Any of those are fine and your wedding is in april so you can take advantage of all the easter dress sales to get somethng cute and cheap.
  • I think either of them are fine.  Like PP, I'd think itd be easier to find a light colored dress on sale in the spring time.  That's what I'm going to suggest to the mother of my flower girl (and my colors are dark purple and light green).
    WHO DEY!
  • I think ivory with purple is a great choice. Then she can wear the dress again for Easter or even Christmas by just changing the sash, My mom used to make most of our clothes when were younger, and we had basic dresses that we just changed the sash or the collar on for different occaisions.

  • What color purple?  I got 3 flower girl dresses off of ebay.  White with Victorian Lilac sashes.  They were brand new, and a very resonable price.  You could search there and see what you find.  My 3 flower girls loved these dresses. http://stores.ebay.com/DARLING-DIVAS
  • Thanks ladies!!! I actually found one that's PERFECT!! It has all three colors. The bodice is Ivory, the sash is sage and the skirt is a plum color! It's a bit on the pricey side but oh well....can't have it all I guess lol =) Here's kind of what it looks like. It's the second picutre down on the right. What do ya think!?
