Wedding Party

BeeBees

What is going on???  I was expecting a rash of newbies after Christmas and New Years.

There's one on Receptions who got pissed when everyone told her that throwing glitter was a horrible idea, a few on a Registry thread who are up in arms because we said a down payment for a house registry was just wrong, one on Ceremony who just lost it when she was told that her and her FI's two year old should not be incorporated in the wedding "in every way possible" and teenage bride on M&M who is pissed because she was told that her teenage MOH/little sister is acting, well, like a teenager and babybride isn't welcoming the advice to hold off on getting married because it turns out "she is really mature for her age".  Really.  Everyone says so.   All of them have about 5 posts and are convinced that we are out to destroy their weddings.

(Yes I had the day off and it's too cold to do anything except curl up under blankets here)

[QUOTE]I am getting a lot of use out of my chill pill though.  And I'm not even posting it on CLOSE to every thread that could use it. Yeah, it's insanity.

I just pulled a Brooke and went all legal on the Ceremony chick's thread.

  • That's alright Stage.  I'm meeting DH at an Italian restaurant and bought a nice Chianti this afternoon (a lot of restaurants here are BYOW).  Insert Hannibal Lecter joke about the old married hag feeding on precious innocent brides.

  • You guys should read the one on Just Engaged about how she is already engaged after knowing her FI a few months yet he wants to ask her family's hand in marriage. If they are already engaged, isn't this a moot point?
  • I'm still holding out hope for the crazies. We've got 10 days til Christmas and 17 until New Years. We've got some time. And by the time we clear out all of that craziness, Valentine's day will be upon us. I'm sure it'll get better.

  • I know exactly why it hasn't turned into a drama thread yet (Thread title and board location), but on Attire, there's a chick that wants options for "winter bridesmaid attire" because she's getting married outside on a mountain in the middle of February ... in an area where the average temp that time of year is like 30 degrees F.

Apparently, she doesn't want them in ski jackets over their dresses, but since 50% of her guests are from the area, she doesn't feel like she's "taking people out of their comfort zone" by making them be outside.

[QUOTE]I thought the same thing, Tricia.  I was prepared for the newly engaged for Christmas crowd.  But whew!  The last couple of days have been something.  And the vitriol from people who didn't hear what they thought they would is pretty astonishing! <strong>This is the mindset of Affirmation and Validation that many grew up with.  You know:  the kid answers a question wrong, and the teacher is supposed to say something like "Well that's the right answer, but to a different question."  Because heaven forbid, they're told something is incorrect.

Don't worry, I tell my students they're wrong very frequently.   However, I do tell them that their answer was the correct one if the problem had been slightly different.  In my own defense, recently we've been factoring, so usually the error is a sign change.

I was just about to mention that one.  It boggles my mind.  If you want an outdoor ceremony, you pick a date where the weather is most likely to be nice.  That's one of those things that you really shouldn't have to explain to people.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
